The Secret Life of Ferns
Older than the flowers, and still quietly holding the forest floor together. Most of it comes down to the same thing: keep what is standing, and give back what has been lost.
Keep what is standing
An old forest stores more carbon and shelters more life than anything newly planted can for generations. Protecting what remains is almost always the first and cheapest step, and everything else follows from it.
Leave room to move
Animals need more than a patch of trees. They need to reach food, water and each other, and even a thin corridor between two fragments of forest can keep a population from slowly dying out.
