Listening for Frogs After Dark

Listening for Frogs After Dark

A wet night is the loudest in the jungle, and a good measure of its health. Most of it comes down to the same thing: keep what is standing, and give back what has been lost.

Plant what belongs

Restoration works best with native species grown from local seed. A mix of trees suited to the place gives birds and insects something to live on, and it stands a far better chance of surviving its first dry season.

Waste less at home

Much of the pressure on wild places starts far away from them, in what gets bought and thrown out. Using things for longer and choosing fewer, better ones takes a little weight off forests you may never visit.
