In Shimla, SJVN Limited has enthusiastically marked the BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week 2026 at its corporate headquarters and project offices. Guided by Bhupender Gupta, the company's Chairman and Managing Director, this initiative aligns with the directions from India's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Fostering a Culture of Energy Conservation
The campaign runs from November 1 to 7, 2026, under the overarching motto 'Save Energy'. Its focus is on promoting energy conservation and fostering environmentally sustainable practices among employees. The program seeks to raise awareness about the importance of efficient energy usage and encourages individuals to adopt sustainable habits in their everyday lives.
Activities to Promote Awareness
On November 2, the second day of the week-long event, SJVN emphasized the significance of responsible energy consumption, following guidance from the Ministry of Power. As part of this effort, employees participated in a unique initiative where non-essential office lighting and electrical devices were turned off for one hour. This exercise incentivized staff to recognize the necessity of minimizing energy waste and taking simple steps toward conserving electricity.
Engaging Employees Through Competitions
SJVN also organized various awareness sessions and quiz competitions aimed at boosting knowledge about energy conservation and responsible consumption among its workforce. Participation was high, with both executives and non-executives engaging eagerly in the activities. Prizes were awarded to winners, further motivating employees to recognize and implement sustainable practices.
During the event, Devjani Patra, Head of Department (Environment), and Shiraj Swan, General Manager (Environment), addressed the attendees, discussing the criticality of energy conservation and resource efficiency. They encouraged everyone to adopt responsible habits in their daily routines to lessen energy wastage and promote environmental sustainability.
