Global Wildlife Experts Unite at EARAZA Conference 2026 in Jamnagar

The EARAZA Annual Conference 2026 in Jamnagar gathered experts for wildlife conservation discussions and networking.

Bringing Together Conservation Leaders

The annual conference for the Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EARAZA) took place at Vantara in Jamnagar, Gujarat, from October 26 to 29. This year’s gathering attracted representatives from 98 organizations across 30 countries, along with 29 Indian zoological institutions.

Key Themes and Innovations

Centered around the theme “Strengthening Global Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation,” the event aimed to enhance collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the improvement of conservation practices worldwide.

During the opening ceremony, Vivaan Karani, the CEO of Vantara, announced a significant initiative: the ANTZ Software Platform will be accessible for free to all EARAZA members for the next year. This innovative cloud-based tool assists zoological institutions in managing their operations and facilitates information sharing through an Open Data Exchange.

Focus on Species Conservation

The four-day conference featured insightful discussions centered on conservation efforts for various species, including the Amur tiger, Oriental stork, Blakiston's eagle-owl, and the great bustard. Experts delved into topics such as animal welfare, veterinary care, wildlife diagnostics, nutrition, biodiversity, human-wildlife conflict, and preparedness for disasters.

Deliberations also highlighted the vital roles of citizen science, media, and public engagement in the realm of conservation. Attendees explored advanced veterinary capacity building and the creation of shared data infrastructures crucial for biodiversity programs.

Showcasing Innovations in Wildlife Care

An exhibition featured 13 exhibitors from seven different countries, showcasing cutting-edge veterinary technologies, diagnostic tools, genomic studies, conservation breeding methods, and innovations in wildlife care. This importance of these technological advancements underscores the commitment to evolving wildlife conservation methods.

Additionally, the conference celebrated the launch of the Indian Zoo Yearbook, Volume 11, 2026. The event concluded with a ceremony on October 29, where six esteemed zoological experts were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their significant contributions to the field.
