What Happens When a Forest Is Left Alone
Given time and seed, cleared land can begin to come back by itself. Most of it comes down to the same thing: keep what is standing, and give back what has been lost.
Waste less at home
Much of the pressure on wild places starts far away from them, in what gets bought and thrown out. Using things for longer and choosing fewer, better ones takes a little weight off forests you may never visit.
Plant what belongs
Restoration works best with native species grown from local seed. A mix of trees suited to the place gives birds and insects something to live on, and it stands a far better chance of surviving its first dry season.
